The difficulties surrounding the development of new technologies, such as information technology, biotechnology and nanotechnology have been discussed at length. As these technologies converge, however, new challenges and implications for society are emerging. This workshop, organised by the Science in Society Programme, will begin to assess what these challenges are and how society could respond.
