Agenda

The morning will consist of an academic synthesis workshop for members of the programme community. We will discuss the research that has taken place and its importance for the social science and public policy communities.

We will then have a break for lunch, to which are invited as many of the users of the research and those who have been involved in project work are invited. At the lunch there will be the launch of the Science in Society Science and globalization brochure, which discusses the research projects within this theme.

Arrival and coffee


Introduction from the Director, Steve Rayner.


10.15am- 11.30am

Group discussion of research papers and end of award reports, culminating in presentation by each group of discussion and identification of up to five significant research questions arising from them.


11.30am-11.45am

Morning coffee and biscuits


11.45am – 12.30pm

Round-up of issues discussed before the break, including commonality, framing of research questions and the importance of future work in the area, to work towards recommendations for the ESRC. A priority list will be developed during the discussion.


12.30pm

Lunch


1.00pm

Brochure launch


Welcome and presentation by the Director of the Science in Society Programme. The Director will talk about the Programme, the Globalization theme, and the way forward for further research in this area.


Followed by questions and answers.


1.30pm

The Director of the STEPS Centre will talk about the connections between the Programme’s globalization theme and the aims of the Centre.
